Gurudas College organised a Career Fair today. Over 700+ students descended upon the common room eager to meet various career counsellors in their campus.
The event was scheduled to start at 12:00p.m., however some students excited about future perspectives, arrived as early as 10:00p.m. and waited for the doors to open.The Fair focused primarily on the fresh job seekers who were confused about which direction to capitalise on. The students were able to connect with numerous career counsellors for information on various skill development programs, diploma courses and future aspects of different fields.
There were in total 8 stalls present with their respective representatives to influence students to be guided by them.From extreme right there was Keya Seth College of Beauty representatives with their stall. Miss Payal Paul, College Head of Keya Seth, was present to solve the queries of the students. This Institute offers crash courses (consisting from 1 day to 2 months) and diploma courses (minimum course duration of 5 months) in the careers of Beautician. It assures 100% placements in various MNCs. Miss Srirupa Ray- GM, Business Development of Keya Seth Communication (India) Private Limited, claimed “to train different individuals in very effective way so as to make them get jobs in various cosmetic companies and other beautician related jobs.” Then moving onto left, the stall of Gurudas College Skill Development Centre is seen. Liza Halder, co-ordinator of Skill Development Centre, showcased 4 skill development courses including Tally with GST; Advance Excel; Digital Marketing; Advance Multimedia (2D Animation, 3D Animation, VFX); each costing ₹4,500/- While the top 3 are of 6 months duration, the latter one is of 1 year. She also states the future probabilities of having this skills in a student’s resume. Next is Edwise’s stall, who claim to be the leading overseas education consultants.Mr. Rajeev Banerjee, Marketing Executive, told the students about the procedure for studying in abroad. He also shared pamphlets of various Universities around 7 Continents around the Globe, which Edwise helps in taking admissions for post graduation courses.
After this comes the stall of Carreograph Institute of Management Studies, which bets on having 20 years of experience in placing various individuals as medical representatives. Mr. Ananda Chatterjee, Counsellor of Carreograph, tells that the Institute has a success record of 50 placements per months. He also states that the course duration is of 2 months and students of any graduate degree can apply for the course. For enrolling into this particular Institute, they would have to visit the Carreograph’s Office in Shyambazar.
Moving on students saw the stall of Career Launcher. Ispa Bhandari, Councellor of Career Launcher, asserted the success percentage of 43% in making students crack various Exams of Central Government Jobs. She stated that they have a 1 year coaching class for students interested in Bank, SSC, UPSC exams whose fee is of ₹. 21,299/- Students can go for 5 days a week classes each of 2 hours duration or weekend classes of 4 hours each. Career Launcher Office is situated in Sealdah.
The next stall was that of JIS Insitute of Skill Development. Mr. Soumitra Addo,Assistant Manager of JIS Foundation, affirmed about various courses of 6 months duration which are available absolutely free of cost to students across West Bengal.
It has three Campuses in Kolkata located in Patipukur and Dum Dum. Students  need to be 8 pass or 10 pass depending upon which course they choose to learn.
The only requirement is that the students must have 80% attendance, unless which they won’t be given any certificate of excellence.Looking left comes the stall of Pune Institute of Business Management. Mr. Sourav Bhui, Assitant Manager in PIBM, insisted student for joining in courses of Post Graduate Diploma in Management and MBA. “The entire couse is of as usual 2 years costing around ₹6.95 Lakhs”, added Sourav. He also assured to place students in highly paid designations in various MNCs.At last the stall of Speed Jet Aviation comes to sight. Miss Lovanita Ganguly, Centre Manager at Speed Jet Aviation, sorted out the queries of the students there. She disclosed the various opportunities for a student to end up as pilot, cabin crew, and other posts in commercial flights. Speed Jet Aviation is a sister partner of Gulf Aviation Academy located at Florida, USA. The eligibility for the students for training in Speed Jet Aviation is Intermediate passed with science stream from any recognized board. The course duration starts from 6 months with fees depending upon the individual courses. One may get chance for being trained at Gulf Aviation Academy, Florida.
The Career Fair ended at 4:00p.m. The majority of the students stated that they were highly satisfied with the replies from the career counsellors and are glad that they attended the Fair. Because of this event students were exposed to future work prospects with an awareness of various skill developing programs. Students were provided opportunity to get knowledge of what’s available to them along with today’s market trends that will help them overcome barriers when searching for permanent employment.

Committee members met with newly admitted students and enlightened them regarding the tentative plans and future events of committee.
OCTOBER TO DECEMBER 2015:
A huge Career fair was organized by the committee in the month of October at our college premises in collaboration with three placement companies. Among them For Best Solution is a Pharma consultancy, Edwise International is Consultant for Higher education in abroad study and Hard soft System Pvt. Ltd is a popular consultant of IT recruitment. More than 100 students from different stream participated successfully in this fair and they were informed about the future prospects in higher education as well as in jobs available in the market.
JANUARY TO MARCH 2016:
We emphasised these three month i.e JFM as month of recruitment. TATA  CONSULTANCY SERVICE (TCS) in collaboration with the committee had organized a whole day recruitment drive in 15th February 2016. More then 60 final year students of different stream participated and 9 of them were selected successfully and received the appointment letter.In the first week of March, we had organized another campus drive with ICICI Prudential Pvt ltd where again more than 60 students appeared for several rounds of selection process and among them 26 students of different stream were selected by the company.
2016-17

JULY TO SEPTEMBER 2016:
Orientation program was conducted by committee members with the first year students and realized the need of soft skill development program. At the beginning of the session Mediskill Pvt. Ltd. conducted a seminar on soft skill development under NSDC scheme (Govt. of India) at college premises where more than 100 students were participated successfully. Upon receiving an enormous interest from students, our college has incorporated an add on course (optional) in several soft skills in collaboration with Medi skill Pvt. Ltd at our college premises.

OCTOBER TO DECEMBER 2016:
Keeping the cyber security in mind, committee had organized another work shops cum seminar regarding Ethical Hacking and Robotics in collaboration with OASAA Technologies. More than 80 students were participated successfully and experienced ethical hacking and constructed robots by their own hand.Committee had also organized seminar regarding social work for
under privileged in collaboration with Magic Bus Pvt. Ltd where general students from different stream were participated successfully.
JANUARY TO MARCH 2017:
Our team had organized recruitment drive for final year students with TCS, ICICI Prudential Pvt. Ltd. and Centrum Financial  Co. Ltd. TATA  CONSULTANCY SERVICE (TCS) in collaboration with the committee had organized a whole day recruitment drive in 23rd February 2017. More then 70 final year students of different stream participated and 7 of them were selected successfully and got the appointment letter. In the last week of February committee had organized another campus drive with ICICI Prudential Pvt. Ltd. where more than 40 students appeared for several rounds of selection process and among them 13 students were selected successfully by the company.

Committee had organized another campus recruitment for commerce graduate only in the month of April 2017 in collaboration with Centrum Financial Co. Ltd. More than 15 students from Commerce department participated successfully and 4 students were short listed for the job.
2017-18
PAST EVENT CALENDER:
JULY TO SEPTEMBER 2017:
After orientation with the newly admitted first year students, committee had organized seminar and interactive session on communicative English in collaboration with VETA for the students of English department and Journalism and Mass communication department. More than 35 students appeared successfully in the seminar and enriched with valuable information from the company representatives. Global Technical Institute had organized an interactive student seminar on future prospect of commerce and arts graduate in collaboration with the committee in the month of August. More than 50 students participated successfully and appreciated the effort
made by committee.Pune Institute of Business Management (PIBM) in collaboration with the committee had organized a seminar cum aptitude test for an industrial tour to Pune regarding the industrial production and development of management skill. 56 students appeared in the aptitude test where 19 students from different stream of Science, Humanities and commerce were selected for the tour.
OCTOBER TO DECEMBER 2017:
Workshop cum campus drive was organized by OAASA technologies for the students of Computer science department regarding digital marketing and IT solutions in collaboration with the committee. More then 30 students participated in the event successfully.Edwise had conducted a seminar on higher studies in abroad in Biomedical Science for the students of Bio science especially for Microbiology in collaboration with the committee. More then 35 students appeared in this interactive seminar successfully. Mediskill Pvt. Ltd. in collaboration with the committee had organized an interactive seminar on TALLY for commerce students. Most of the first year and second year students participated in that session.
JANUARY TO MARCH 2018:
Our team had organized recruitment drive for final year students with TCS, ICICI Prudential Pvt. Ltd. since 2015. Without any exception we experienced huge participation and appreciation from students regarding this campus drive.
TATA CONSULTANCY SERVICE (TCS) in collaboration with the committee organized a whole day recruitment drive in 7th February 2017. More then 55 final year students of different stream participated and 8 of them were  selected successfully and got the appointment letter.In the last week of February committee had organized another campus drive with ICICI Prudential where more than 60 students appeared for several rounds of selection process and among them 20 students were short listed for final interview. Among them 6 students were selected for the job successfully.
