Departmental Activities

On 1st March 2021, the department organized Invited lecture in collaboration with seminar committee and IQAC. The lecture was delivered online by prof Debarchana Dutta on Objectivity in Social Research.

On 13th March 2020, the department organized a special lecture in collaboration with seminar committee. The lecture was delivered by prof Mahua Roy on “Interrogating New Reproductive Technologies: A Feminist Lens.

On 6th March 2020, the department organized a movie show for the students as a part of out door activity. The movie Thappad based on gender violence and discrimination of women was shown in movie theatre as a part of an outdoor activity.

On 26th August 2019, the department organized Cleanliness Drive with the students in collaboration with NSS through the Earn while you Learn scheme around the college campus.

The Department organized a special lecture in collaboration with seminar committee on 7.5.2019.

The lecture was delivered by Prof Angana Dutta on “The Practical Signicance of Sociology”.

Students’ Seminar: A students’ Seminar was held on 19.02.18. Topics were: • Class as a form of stratification • Social mobility in the context of modern society • Media and popular culture • Technology and social change • Interaction in everyday life

Wall magazine: Topic- Impact of technology on social change; Social Stratification : Caste and class; Media and popular culture.
Class presentations and discussions on social issues are encouraged, throughout the year.
