Active Storm Shelter at Gurudas College:

Following the directive for preparatory measures (action point 22) set forth in Notice No. 96-PSDM&CD/2021 and No. 97-PSDM&CD/2021, dated 20.05.21, of the Department of Disaster Management & Civil Defence (Government of West Bengal), the authority of Gurudas College promptly made arrangements in parts of their buildings to function as a storm shelter during the Yaas cyclone (25th – 27th May 2021). The college authority provided place for staying equipped with bedding, food, drinking water, electricity and toilet facilities for those in and around the college area who didn’t have any shelter or lived in unprotected conditions.The members of the students’ union actively prepared and served meals and attended to all the needs of those who sought protection. Below are a few photographs of the activities at this shelter.
