Research Group

At present there are two research fellows at my “Laboratory of Experimental Immunology”. The laboratory started its journey from 2008.

  1. Priya Gopal (M.S in Microbiology from University of Calcutta): Ms Gopal is currently a Senior Research Fellow. She is screening different analogues of curcumin which has enhanced bioavailability than the mother Curcumin for its efficacy as an anti leukemic agent. Taking the most potent analogue she is trying to find out the molecular mechanism leading to apoptosis. She is also trying to identify the molecular targets of the most potent curcumin analogue in Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL). The overall aim is value addition of Curcumin to find a novel drug for ALL.
  2. Swadesh Sarkar (M.S in Botany from University of Calcutta): Mr Sarkar is a Junior Research Fellow working at a DST (Govt. Of West Bengal) funded Research Project in my laboratory. He is at present isolating and characterizing structure of bio-molecules from selected Indian medicinal plants. He is testing the purified compounds for its anti leukemic effect and trying to know the molecular targets down regulated by the potent compound. His work, aims at identifying compound with potent anti leukemic activity from Indigenous plants.
